The new Mac in Yvonne’s life
I love my new iMac! It’s sitting beside me now, all sleek and white and handsome. We hooked up last night and I’ve been fooling around with him all morning. Oh, the thrill, the excitement, the absolute elation of learning something new!
Mac and I are going to make movies together. Okay, book trailers. Although I’ve worked in the film business for more than a decade, I’ve never tackled editing before. But Mac and I are a perfect team.
Hour One: Discovery of Photo Booth program. Take some pop art photos of the dog and e-mail to Husband. Make the dog look like an alien and e-mail image to Husband. Give the dog three ears and e-mail image to husband. Make a starburst appear from dog’s bottom and e-mail image to Husband.
Hour Two: Husband e-mails back to request cessation of dog photo spamming.
Hour Three: Spam co-author with dog photos instead. Co-author inquires about status of book trailers. Flip co-author metaphorical bird.
Hour Four: Discovery of Garage Band program. Access several dozen cool instruments. Form imaginary e-band. E-mail co-author vowing to create entire soundtrack for book trailers. E-mail Husband and promise to finish in time to debut by dinner.
Hour Five: Garage Band a little harder to navigate than photo booth.
Hour Six: Struggling to open new track column. Can’t erase previous track error.
Hour Seven: Where did all the cool instruments go? E-band breaks up.
Hour Eight: Tackle iMovie. Succeed in loading several video clips as well as book covers. Yell “And… Rolling!” until dog flees office.
Hour Nine: Video clips won't render properly.
Hour Ten: Crack open the scotch.
Hour Eleven: Cut! Mac and I are breaking up.
Hour Twelve: Husband arrives home to find editing genius drunk and sulking.
Hour Thirteen: Co-author calls to hear soundtrack. Senses metaphorical bird flippage. Retreats to wait patiently for book trailers. Mac will come through!
